“I thought the hard part was going to be to open it, but it wasn’t. The hard part is staying open.”
After Germany wouldn’t recognize Christy’s educational qualifications from the USA, she decided that she wanted something that was hers – so she opened up a coffee shop around the corner from where she lives. But it turned out to be a lot of effort for not much financial reward.
Christy sits down with a Pfälzisch Weinschorler and talks about the coffee shop, her experiences as a mother of children with special needs, and casual racism in Germany. She also explains why she just hasn’t been back to the States for 10 years, and how the only thing she really misses is Key lime juice.
